Description
This nebula known as the Crescent nebula was created by the bright star near its center. This star is known as a Wolf Rayet star and it is extremely hot. At some point in the future the star will be heading toward becoming a supernova, but it has already blown off much of its outer envelope of hot gas plasma. Wolf Rayet stars are relatively rare in the Universe.
